I recently visited Fired and Iced, Lagos and I want to recommend more than the Spicy Lemon Chicken Legs.
Let me start off by sharing how much I love Chef Imoteda. I’ve been following and experiencing good food through her different jobs. The most previous was Grey Matter Lagos, which, I swear on my left nipple, knew when she wasn’t in charge of managing anymore. Fired and Iced is her latest project and, by the curation of the food, I can tell it’s dearest to her heart.
When I visit a place to eat, I tend to overlook the “aesthetics,” it seems that’s what a lot of people are focused on these days. This is not to say that Fired and Iced is not cool, it is. So, it’s a grill spot with indoor and outdoor sitting, if you’re a vegetarian, don’t bother visiting because the offerings might be offensive to your culture.
Check out the menu…
I went with Nenye (nenye_wordsandwhatnot) so we ordered a couple of dishes to to share. In my opinion, the potions are made for sharing.

I love that they experimented with the cocktail menu because the Lord know I’m not going to pay for a drink that i could have made myself at home. Creativity? Now, that’s something I can get behind. I’m looking forward to trying out more of their cocktail options.

I don’t even know if I have the words to describe the spicy lemon chicken legs, you have to try it! By the way, it’s deboned chicken thighs. The jollof rice isn’t the typical smokey jollof, it has a more home-y taste. I wanted too crazy about the tozo, I think I’d try its sandwich cousin that’s on the menu. The smoked herb turkey was delicious, I should note that Chef Imoteda isn’t the one cooking the food but she has a chef who’s been with her for a long time and he just gets better.

It’s at the time of writing this that I realized I should have taken better pictures. I’ll work better on the next one, I promise.
